The Art of Hiking in the Rain

(the importance of consistency for having a nice little body)

Racing in the rain

I haven’t read the book or seen the movie so I have no idea what it’s about. But I needed a title for the newsletter and I just went for a hike in the rain so here we are. Google says, “The Art of Racing in the Rain is, at its core, a story about family and relationships. It delves into the relationships between lovers, spouses, parents and children, and parents and their adult children. It also questions what love is and what forms familial love can take.” Anyway… let’s use this random intro as a reminder of the importance of your relationships with your loved ones. Do what you’d like with this reminder.

Happy Sunday!

Here are a few ideas to help you feel great, rock a nice little bod, & enjoy life…

Feel Great

Yesterday in Los Angeles was cold and wet… the ultimate wrap-yourself-in-a-blanket-burrito-binge-a-new-Netflix-series-and-order-takeout kind of day. I did [some of] that for most of the day.

But I got restless and needed to get out of my mansion 1 BR apartment. I went for a hike in the rain and it was awesome. No phone, just me walking in the misty rain. It felt great to get out in the fresh air and move my body (there was also something kind of… magical about being out in the rain).

The point is, when in doubt, get up, get out, and do something. Move your nice little bod! You’ll always be glad you did.

Consistency is KING!

Fitness life style

During my rain hike I saw many of the same people I see when it’s sunny. This was NOT a coincidence! Being healthy & fit is a way of life. We’re out there every day doing something! But this doesn’t mean you have to be extreme about it. It’s simply about consistently stacking the small wins while limiting the negative inputs.

Enjoy Life

"The days can be easy if the years are consistent. You can write a book or get in shape or code a piece of software in 30 minutes per day. But the key is you can't miss a bunch of days." — James Clear (Author of Atomic Habits)

When designing your fitness routine, ask yourself, “What can I do—and enjoy doing—for the rest of my life?”

When designing your nutrition program/meal plan, ask yourself, “How can I eat—and enjoy eating—for the rest of my life?”

Of course these will evolve as you improve and figure out what works best for you, but always think long-term. What can you do—and enjoy doing—forever? That’s the only way you’ll stick with it.
