Thoughts on Procrastination That May Inspire You

(or haunt you...)

I Know what you did last summer

I know what you didn’t do last summer…

Here are my favorite thoughts about procrastination. Maybe one will resonate and help you do the thing(s) you keep putting off…

“You could be good today, instead you choose tomorrow.” — Marcus Aurelius

“A man who procrastinates in his choosing will inevitably have his choice made for him by circumstance.” — Hunter S. Thompson

“Please don't say mañana if you don't mean it

I have heard those words for so very long”

— Jimmy Buffett, “Mañana”

“When is it ever gonna be the ideal situation for you to run your course or start your action or pursue your endeavor? It’s never gonna be ideal. It’s never gonna be this perfect storm of opportunity for you to say, “Ok, this is the time!” It’s never gonna broadcast it and highlight it for you. It starts when you put one foot in front of the other.” — Greg Plitt

“Putting things off is the biggest waste of life: it snatches away each day as it comes, and denies us the present by promising the future. The greatest obstacle to living is expectancy, which hangs upon tomorrow, and loses today. You are arranging what lies in Fortune's control and abandoning what lies in yours. What are you looking at? To what goal are you straining? The whole future lies in uncertainty: live immediately.” ― Seneca

What are you putting off? Can you take a tiny step right now? Don’t even finish reading this email— go do the thing!

Feel Great

The more you delay, make excuses, and put things off, the more stress & anxiety build and the less great you feel. Procrastination leads to poor health (mental, physical, spiritual, emotional, social).

Stop wasting time. Do it now.

Remember, you don’t have to solve your entire life at once. And getting started is sometimes the hardest part. Just take a baby step in the right direction and you’ll feel great.

— Seneca
